Dear Brad,
"Thank you so
much for sharing your knowledge with our residents. All of
the women who attended the Medical Qigong class commented that you were
not only very knowledgeable but also very kind and patient. They felt
you were really there for them individually, tailoring the
instruction
to their specific needs and pacing it to match their capabilities."
Sincerely,

What is Medical
Qigong?
Medical
Qigong (Chi Kung, Qi Gong, or
Chi
Gong) is the
theory and practice of Qi Cultivation for the purpose of healing and
balancing the major internal organs according to Chinese Energetic
Medicine. Qi is the life force energy
that animates all life. Without Qi the body dies. Qigong is
mostly known as a gentle,
flowing type of exercise that involves gentle movement with regulated
breathing, and may include visualization or toning specific sounds.
Qigong can be done by most everyone.
What is Medical
Qigong Therapy?
Medical
Qigong Therapy is one of the five
branches of Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM). It is
a healing form
of Qigong, in
which Qi is channeled through the
practitioner from the Divine Source into the client to redirect and
guide energy out that is
blocked and lead
energy in to rebuild weakened areas using the 12 main energy channels
and extraordinary channels as used in other forms of Chinese Medicine,
like acupuncture. The
latter part of the session is for demonstration of a healing exercise
or meditation to put the client in the "drivers seat" and to
participate in his / her healing process.
What happens in a Medical Qigong
Therapy session?
After a time of going
over the client's history, I will do a short
meditation, energetically connect with the client, scan over there
body for areas
of weakened energy (Qi deficiency) and excess
energy (Qi excess or "Turbid" Qi) and make specific adjustments to the
energy of their internal organs, chakras, and any other areas that need
attention. Depending on what I find, I will
prescribe and demonstrate specific Qigong
exercises, discuss further
recommendations that may include Energy
Psychology, nutritional suggestions and/ or referrals to other
health professionals when appropriate.
|
"Physicians
should allow patients to try Qigong because it will only increase the
effect of their conventional therapies, resulting in benefits to both
patient and doctor," says principal investigator Kevin Chen, PhD, MPH,
associate professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey, Piscataway, New Jersey.

In China,
where there are many Medical Qigong hospitals and
clinics, Qigong is valued highly in the
treatment of serious illnesses as well as stress
related imbalances and disorders of aging. Medical Qigong
therapists are sometimes included as part of the team in the operating
room in the hospitals in China during surgery--they can assist with the
process energetically, which results in faster healing of the client.
As with the other branches of TCM, which are
acupuncture, massage, herbal medicine, and dietetics, healing occurs
through balancing the life force energy or Qi (Chi), which
surrounds and pervades all living things. Medical Qigong
therapists are trained to feel this Qi energy--its density, texture,
emotional content, and other qualities--in order to diagnose
and then to adjust the energy to recreate balance in your body.
Brad is a graduate of the International Institute of
Medical Qigong Overseas College
of Medical Qigong Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,
Pacific Grove, CA.
He has also been trained in psychology,
Reiki, Energy Psychology (EFT), muscle
testing and the Yuen Method of energetics. Brad has been
practicing in the
health field since 1992.
